Punzel's History
Surrounded by 90 acres of northern hardwoods, named the Tidendal Woods, Punzel’s Cottage and Studio thrives on a land teaming with wildlife (aquatic, land-lumbers, and airborne), wildflowers, and four, picture postcard seasons.
Judy Hauser, nicknamed Punzel by Bernd, her German born husband who was inspired by the folktale Rapunzel, sought to share with her grandchildren and others, the endearing world of her Swedish grandparents. 2010 is the beginning of Judy’s 25th year of creating handcrafts, illustrations, and writing, dedicated to nature’s wonders and the mystical creatures of her Scandinavian heritage.

Punzel's Mission
Punzel’s Cottage and nearby mystical communities have grown throughout the last 25 years. Thousands have entered the Cottage and walked the pathways. We would like to share Judy’s imaginary characters, through stories and drawings, photographs from her real life homestead, recipes, and products she has designed with those who have not visited, and keep in touch with those who have.
Please know that every product is original in design, and created from sustainable harvest, be it wood, or fabric. Every item has a story, a link with a rich Nordic heritage, and a presence that defines its uniqueness.
Judy's son Kurt is carring on the Scandinavian tradition of carving. His carvings depict the mystical creatures found in Punzel's Legends. Kurt's larger carvings are on display at Punzel's Cottage and Saga Tours. Some of his smaller works will be available through this Website.

Due to the overhead charge of credit cards we accept personal checks (Please allow two weeks for processing), money order, or cashier's checks (Immediate Shipment). Scandinavians wished for rugs that were easy to care for while lasting a lifetime. Their wish was granted. Our rugs from Sweden are woven on power looms with vinyl strips of plastic sheeting. The warp is a blend of nylon and cotton, giving the rugs strength and durability. They are machine washable and drip dry. NO DRYER! Their colors won't fade and the rugs are slip resistant ~ they protect hardwood, vinyl, and carpet.
